On behalf of the Computing Research Association's Widening Participation Committee (CRA-WP), thank you for your interest in serving as a mentor in the NSF Distributed Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF DREU) program. We appreciate the time and commitment you are investing in this application.
The application should take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete. To prepare, please have your CV or résumé ready for upload.
This application is designed to help us get to know you better as a potential mentor through a short series of questions. If you encounter any technical issues or have questions or concerns at any point, please reach out to the CRA-WP staff at DREU_Staff@cra.org.
We look forward to reviewing your application and learning more about you.
Cost Sharing by faculty mentors is encouraged. The number of students interested in the DREU program has increased substantially over the last several years and many qualified students have not been selected due to lack of funding. To enable more students to participate, faculty are now encouraged to provide funds to support (partially or fully) students. These funds will be used for student stipends - the DREU program will provide all relocation and other travel support. This will not affect the selection process. All interested faculty are eligible to be DREU mentors. All interested faculty are encouraged to apply as mentors!
The DREU matches students with mentors. You are NOT expected to have already chosen a student. However, if you know of particular students who you would like to supervise, please list their names and email address.
Note that the DREU program matches students with mentors at other institutions and that we can only match students at their home institution if (i) the mentor provides full funding or (ii) the student has some extraordinary circumstances that make it so they cannot move to another institution for the summer (e.g., health or family circumstances).
