  • Guidelines for the Nomination Letter

The award is for outstanding contributions aimed at increasing the numbers and/or successes of marginalized members in the computing research community. The quality and extent of computing research conducted by nominated individuals or organizations are not taken into consideration in making this award—unless that research addresses the above goals—and material about nominated individuals’ or organizations’ research accomplishments should not be included in the nomination material.

The nomination letter should make a compelling case for why the nominee deserves the award, focusing on a few key contributions and providing evidence for each. Rather than listing accomplishments, the letter should emphasize the nominee's sustained impact, effectiveness, and broad service to the computing community -- and for individual nominees, beyond contributions within a single institution. Please limit the letter to two pages.
